Reducing and Reshaping an Overgrown Hedge

This project involved reducing the height and reshaping a large, overgrown hedge at a property in Southampton.

Over time, the hedge had become too tall and wide, making it increasingly difficult for the customer to maintain. The aim was to bring it back to a more practical size while retaining the privacy and screening it provided.

MEWP-Assisted Hedge Cutting

Because of the hedge's width and height, our arboriculturists used a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) to safely access the upper and inner sections.

Using a MEWP allowed the team to work efficiently along the full length of the hedge and achieve a much more even, controlled reduction.

Careful Pruning to Maintain a Healthy Hedge

The hedge was reduced and reshaped gradually, with care taken to avoid excessive cutting that could affect its future growth or appearance.

Our goal was to create a cleaner, more structured shape while retaining enough healthy growth for the hedge to remain dense and continue providing effective screening.

A Tidier and More Manageable Garden

Once the work was complete, the hedge was significantly easier to maintain and looked much neater and more uniform.

The reduction also helped open up the surrounding garden while retaining the privacy the customer wanted from the boundary.
