Large Oak Tree Removal in Petersfield

Specialist Tree Removal Following Subsidence Concerns

This project involved the removal of two large oak trees in Petersfield following concerns about subsidence affecting a nearby property.

Because of the size of the trees and their close proximity to the house, the work required careful planning and specialist equipment to ensure the trees could be dismantled safely and with minimal risk to the surrounding property.

Controlled Tree Surgery Using Specialist Equipment

To carry out the tree removal safely and efficiently, our arboriculturists used a Merlo telehandler fitted with a specialist cutting head.

This equipment allowed large branches to be securely held and cut in a controlled manner before being carefully lowered away from the property. Using this approach helped reduce unnecessary movement and made it possible to dismantle the trees efficiently while maintaining a high level of control throughout the job.

MEWP-Assisted Dismantling of Large Timber

For the larger sections of the oak trees, we used our Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) to give the team safe and accurate access to the upper sections of the trees.

The MEWP allowed our tree surgeons to position themselves precisely before making each cut and helped us manage the heavier timber safely as the trees were dismantled.

The project also provided an opportunity for one of our junior climbers to develop their skills under close supervision, carrying out tasks such as setting straps and making controlled cuts alongside an experienced senior climber.

Repurposing the Oak Timber

Once the trees had been fully dismantled, the larger sections of oak timber were removed from the site in full lengths and transported to a mill.

Rather than allowing the timber to go to waste, it will be processed into usable material, giving the wood a useful second life.
